Alka Lohmann obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and received her Master of Science degree in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) at Virginia Commonwealth University. She continued to conduct laboratory research at MCV until she joined the Virginia Division of Forensic Science. Ms. Lohmann was employed as the Forensic Scientist Supervisor in the Breath Alcohol Section, the Breath Alcohol Section Chief, the Program Manager for Calibration and Training, and is currently the Director of Technical Services at the Department of Forensic Science. She serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Chemical Testing (IACT) and has previously served as President, Vice-President and Secretary for the Association. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology in Forensic Alcohol Toxicology (D-ABFT-FA). Ms. Lohmann is a member of the National Safety Council Alcohol, Drugs and Impairment Division where she previously served as Secretary as well as a member of the Executive Board. She served on the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) Board of Directors and currently serves on the North Carolina Forensic Science Advisory Board.
